President Donald Trump refused that J.D. Vance was his successor and preferred choice for the 2028 Republican presidential nomination.

Trump, who has just begun his final White House term, was asked in a Fox News Super Bowl interview if he considered Vance to be his successor.

Trump replied, “No. But he is very capable. I believe we have many very capable people. I think so far he is doing an excellent job, but it’s still too early. We’re just getting started.”

The president redirected the conversation when he told Vance that he “will be looking for approval” after the midterm elections in 2026.

Trump said, “Many people have said this has been the best opening — almost 3 weeks — in the history of the president.”

Vance’s response could be a sign of the president’s unwillingness to accept that his term ends in January 2029 or his desire to stay focused on the moment. Vance, contrary to the pundits’ assumption, has not stated whether he intends to run for president in 2028.

A new CBS News/YouGov poll shows that Americans are more than ever satisfied with the work Trump has done less than three weeks after he began his second term.

The New York Post reported that Vance is 40 years old and the third youngest vice president in U.S. History. He was chosen by Trump in July as his running mate at the request of Donald Trump Jr.

Vance, the new vice president of the United States, stepped out onto the international stage for the first time this week. He used a high-stakes AI summit in Paris as well as a security conference held in Munich to highlight Trump’s aggressive approach to diplomacy.

Vance stepped onto the world stage this week for the first time as vice president, using a high-stakes AI summit in Paris and a security conference in Munich to amplify Trump’s aggressive new approach to diplomacy.

The vice president, who was just 18 months into his tenure as a senator before joining Trump’s ticket, is expected, while in Paris, to push back on European efforts to tighten AI oversight while advocating for a more open, innovation-driven approach.
