President Donald Trump has dismissed George Clooney’s CBS interview as a “puff piece” after the actor and director criticized the president-elect in the middle of discussing his Broadway debut.
“Why would the now widely discredited 60 Minutes be airing a complete ‘puff piece’ on George Clooney, a second-rate movie ‘star’ and failed political pundit?” Trump wrote on TRUTH Social. “He fought relentlessly for Sleepy Joe’s election, only to dump him like a dog right after the Debate. Then, likely under pressure from the Obama camp, he fully backed ‘Kamala,’ only to realize that wasn’t going to work out well at all.”
Trump added, “60 Minutes fraudulently introduced Fake Answers into her devastating interview that aired right before Election Day. It was one of the most embarrassing and dishonest broadcast events ever.”
“And now George Clooney again?” Trump asked. “His press agent should be making a fortune!!!”
Clooney, a Democrat by birth who last year joined those who called on former president Joe Biden to end his reelection campaign, sat with “60 Minutes,” to discuss his Broadway debut as American journalist Edward R. Murrow, in an adaptation to his 2005 film, “Good Night, and Good Luck.” Clooney said that the play is based on Murrow’s fight against McCarthy’s administration.

Here’s how we differed from Murrow. Clooney said that McCarthy’s version of fake news was to show a blank sheet of paper, say “I have a list” and pose situations. We’ve reached a point where it is harder to determine the truth. “Facts are now being negotiated.”
Clooney defended the decision he made to write an opinion piece in the New York Times calling for Biden’s removal, just weeks after he and Hollywood celebrities helped raise $30 million for Biden during a Los Angeles fundraising event.
Clooney replied, “I’ve always been raised to be honest.” When asked about the essay. Clooney said, “I was raised to tell the truth.” When asked about the essay. “I was ashamed of it, but I felt I had no choice.”
Trump wants $20 billion from CBS and CBS parent Paramount Global for an interview conducted on Oct. 7, 2020, with former Vice President Kamala Harris in advance of the presidential elections 2024. This lawsuit was initially filed shortly before Trump’s second term and then expanded to include several other allegations. It accuses “60 Minutes” of partisan election interference and unlawful conduct for editing the interview with Harris and airing different versions of her responses.
In February, the Federal Communications Commission released a raw video and an unedited transcription. Harris gave different answers about Israel on CBS’s “Face the Nation” and “60 Minutes,” though the network insisted that the differences were not “doctored or deceptive.” Corporate leaders have considered settling the lawsuit despite asking for the court’s dismissal.

Clooney also led a Broadway stage read along with the cast of the play “60 Minutes”.
Clooney tells the audience at the Winter Garden Theater, in the center of Broadway: “ABC just settled a case with the Trump Administration and CBS News has begun the process.” The reporter then cuts Clooney off.
Jon Wertheim categorizes Trump’s suit against CBS by claiming that it is an “unfounded claim” of interference in the election.
Disney paid $16 Million to settle Trump’s suit against ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos in December.
Clooney told 60 Minutes, “We see this idea that the government is using fines or scare tactics to intimidate or punish journalists or corporations are being used to reduce their size.” The government doesn’t care for freedom of the press. “They never liked the press, whether you were a conservative, liberal, or on whichever side you may be.
“It’s a fight that is for the ages,” the actor-director said. “Journalism and telling truth to power has to be waged like war is waged. It doesn’t just happen accidentally. You know, it takes people saying we’re going to do these stories, and you’re going to have to come after us. And that’s the way it is.”
