The left/media has made a major point of how USAID, after being audited by DOGE, cut off life-saving aid in other parts of the world.

Press Sec. has noted that Republicans have rejected this narrative. They claim that USAID is little more than a slush fund for leftist causes abroad. Karoline Leavitt gave a press briefing recently.

“1.5 million dollars to advance DEI in Serbia’s workplaces. $70,000 for a production of a DEI musical in Ireland. $47,000 for a transgender opera in Colombia. $32,000 for a transgender comic book in Peru,” Leavitt shared.

Democrats continue to insist that USAID funding is required for “humanitarian situations” worldwide.

“We are here today not just to support federal employees who devote themselves to humanitarian work every day.” “We are here to save people’s lives because that is what USAID does,” Rep. Connolly, D-VA, declared during a recent demonstration.

The House Foreign Affairs Committee heard testimony on Thursday about what they called the “USAID a Betrayal.”

Max Primorac (Heritage Foundation Senior Research Fellow) was about to make his opening statement after the chairman of the hearing, Rep. Brian Mast, (R-FL), as well as its ranking member Rep. Gregory Meeks, (D-NY), had each given theirs.

Protesters started unfurling banners while chanting, “PEPFAR is saving lives.” They continued to chant “Restore AIDS funding immediately” as they were escorted away.

Mast did not miss a beat and said a few simple, short, and sweet words to the protesters.

“I guess these guys don’t watch the news. They didn’t realize that PEPFAR was one of the many programs that did prove to be life-saving, so the funding was restored. Somebody better give them a link to, I don’t know, maybe Fox News or something like that.”

Elon Musk, the DOGE leader, said on Wednesday that PEPFAR funding has been preserved in large part.

There are also waivers for other life-saving aid.

In a memo, Congressional Republicans pointed out that Secretary of State Marco Rubio had also expanded the exemption to include “life-saving medicines, medical services and food, shelter, and subsistence assistance as well as supplies, reasonable administrative costs and necessary for delivering such assistance.”
