Charles Gasparino, a New York Post contributor, said that the sale of TikTok by a Chinese company to a US-based company is currently “off the table”.

Gasparino reported Wednesday on X that White House officials “now concede the potential @tiktok_us deal — sale to a US company by the Chinese — is off the table for the foreseeable future and maybe forever as we go to a trade war focused totally on the Chinese.”

Donald Trump announced Friday that he will extend the deadline by 75 days for TikTok in order to give his administration time to negotiate a deal to keep it operating under American ownership. Congress mandated the platform to divest itself of China by January 19 or face being banned from the U.S. for national security reasons.

Trump raised U.S. Tariffs on China on Wednesday to 125%. Hours earlier, Beijing had imposed tariffs of up to 84% on American Imports. He also vowed to fight to the “end” in an escalating battle between the two largest economies.
