The Marines who had been waiting for the Vice President JD Vance’s arrival at Marine Corps Base Qantico, Virginia, on Wednesday afternoon waited for over two hours. But not a single Marine seemed to be bothered by the delay when the vice-president finally arrived to loud applause. He had a message for all the troops: The Trump administration is on their side.
Vance was late due to an Oval Office Meeting, but he made excuses to Trump and hurried down to Quantico aboard Marine Two. He was late, but he had a great excuse. The president sent him his best wishes, saying: “We love you, we’re very proud of you, and we will support every step of your journey.”
The vice president welcomed his Marines with an enthusiastic “Oorah!” The crowd was delighted. He said that he never served at Quantico but was “a proud member of the E-4 Mafia” and that he wanted to run as vice president because “it was about time the colonels and generals listened to the corporals.”
Applause thunderous!
Vance spoke of his Marine Corps service, which he completed from 2003 to 2007, and how it shaped him into the man he is now. He recalled how a gunnery Sergeant saved him from the worst financial mistake of his career: purchasing a used Honda Civic with a 21% interest rate. He said that it’s this kind of camaraderie that turns ordinary youths into United States Marines.
The vice president, who was clearly at home in Quantico, then went straight to the point, which was to explain the Trump administration’s plan to transform the U.S. Military into a “lethal” fighting force based on excellence and not quotas. He brought the heat.
There will be no more quotas, no more ridiculous mumbo jumbo, and no more diversity training.

The Marine Corps will continue to fight for the country’s freedoms and interests, as it has done for the past 250 years.
In November, the United States Marine Corps is celebrating its 250th anniversary. The vice president joked that it would be “sober and no alcohol.” Or, to quote Vance, “250 Years of Winning Wars, 250 Years of Kicking Asses and Taking Names.” The vice president then teased a $1 trillion military investment, saying that the administration was determined to rebuild the manufacturing industry in the United States to provide the best possible “guns in hand” and “equipment in back” for service members if called to war.
After his brief remarks, the Vice President made his way into the “chow room” where he fed his fellow Marines. In his own words, he “shot some guns” to end the visit before returning to Washington, DC.
Update: We haven’t heard of anyone more excited to serve as Vice President:
