Reporters were told that on his first day as president, Donald Trump would declare a national energy emergency and issue executive orders to utilize U.S. resources, in particular Alaska’s.
Officials said the U.S. would be able to act more quickly if they were able to unlock additional authority.
Declaring a national crisis can give you access to many powers, including the Defense Production Act which allows loans for energy deployment, as well as construction and military construction powers.

Trump will also sign an executive order that is said to be focused on reducing red tape and regulation. Officials stated that this order would include language directed at Biden regulations, which are expected to increase electric vehicle sales in the U.S.
Trump will also sign an order to utilize resources in Alaska. Alaska is a controversial area in the United States when it comes to energy and the environment. Republicans have long seen the potential for oil and natural gas production, while Democrats want to preserve the pristine landscape.
Officials did not specify which areas of Alaska were to be targeted. However, they said that the order was aimed at utilizing Alaska’s timber, minerals, oil, and gas.
