Donald Trump, the US president, said that on Tuesday, the US earned $2 billion per day in tariffs.
Trump stated, “We’re bringing in almost $2 billion per day in tariffs” during a signing event at the White House, Washington, D.C., to ease coal regulations. “And we are doing very well at making tailored deals, not off-the-rack. These are highly customized, tailored deals.”
“Right away, Japan is coming here to do a deal. South Korea is here to close a deal. Many countries are arriving. They want to do deals. They would have laughed at us if I had told them that we would make these deals two, three, or five years earlier. Now, they are all signing up”, Trump continued.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said earlier Tuesday that nearly 70 countries had approached the administration to rework trade agreements.
Trump did not provide any details. Since taking office in January, the president has imposed a variety of tariffs against other countries.
According to the Treasury Department’s daily report of withdrawals and deposits from its general account – the main operating account for the federal government – “Customs and Certain Excise Taxes”, deposits averaged $200 million per day this month.
The Treasury collected approximately $7.25 billion from customs duties for the month of February. Thursday will see the release of the monthly budget for March, which will include all the latest figures.
