This week, President Donald Trump nominated Anthony Lomangino for the Board of Governors of the Postal Service.
“Anthony is a fantastic businessman and reformer, who built one of the most successful sanitation businesses in the Country,” Trump posted on his Truth Social platform.
Lomangino is a waste and recycling expert with over 40 years of experience. He has also built successful businesses.
He was among the first to champion the recycling of refuse, and he developed innovative technologies for the industry that were pro-environmental.

Trump acknowledged Lomangino’s leadership as a businessman in his post. He wrote: “He can solve problems, and there are many at the Postal Service!” I am confident he will do so with distinction. Congratulations, Anthony!”
Lomangino is one of the 11 members of the Postal Service Board of Governors, which has the power to oversee the agency.
The board effectively runs the service, including setting postal rates.
Lomangino is a longtime friend and supporter of Trump. He has also donated to his campaign.
Trump appointed Lomangino’s wife, Lynda, to the Kennedy Center Board of Trustees earlier this year.

In September 2016, at a rally for his campaign in Long Island, New York, Trump, the then-candidate, told his audience Lomangino “Lomangino was one of the greatest of all time.”
Lomangino, along with his fellow board members, faces a Postal Service that is in crisis.
Trump stated in February that he was considering moving the Commerce Department under his direct control and removing the status of the service as a quasi-government agency.
The agency’s fiscal year ended with a loss of $9.5 billion, up from $6.5 billion for fiscal year 2023.
