Named in honor of the late Secretary of State John Foster Dulles, the airport was formally dedicated by President John F. Kennedy. Since its opening, it has served as one of the primary international gateways to the nation’s capital, handling millions of passengers annually.
The condition of Dulles has long been a source of frustration for travelers and transportation officials alike.
