A fatal shooting occurred on Friday morning at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Mississippi, a known fabricator of vessels for the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard, according to local police reports.
Authorities have identified the alleged shooter as Curtis James Jr., a 25-year-old man, who is currently in police custody. In a press conference held on Friday afternoon, the incident was described by officers as a disagreement between two individuals who were acquainted with each other. A high-ranking officer from Pascagoula County referred to the event as a ‘workplace dispute’.
The identity of the deceased has not been officially announced by the police. However, the parent company of Ingalls Shipbuilding, HII, affirmed that the victim was a shipbuilder. During the incident, personnel were advised to take shelter, as reported by HII.
