The death of several influential people is a recent development. Bloodshed among members or associates in the Sinaloa cartel might be familiar.
According to Latin Times, four influential people have been killed in a conflict between “La Mayiza”, and “Los Chapitos”, factions of the Sinaloa cartel. This war has been brewing ever since U.S. officials apprehended Joaquin Guzman “El Chapo”, and Ismael Zambada “El Mayo” Zambada in late July.
According to the report, criminal syndicates have used social media celebrities as a way to spread their messages and gain supporters.
The Times reported that brochures were distributed in Culiacan and Sinaloa on January 9, alleging three influentials who died were linked to the “Chapitos.”

In October, popular TikToker “El Chilango” was killed in a recording studio, shortly before the death of “El Gordo Peruci.”
The report states that “El Jasper”, who was found with 70 gunshot injuries in late November, died. El Pinky, whose body was discovered on January 10, was the latest death reported.
According to Excelsior, 45 deaths were reported in Sinaloa during the first week in 2025 due to clashes between the “Chapitos’ and “Mayitos.”
