Police said that two people were killed and another two injured when a man attacked a group of homeless people with a broomstick.

Miami Police Chief Manuel Morales said that after 6 am on Thursday, units responded to reports of a male armed with a weapon who was “beating people up.”

Morales claims that several people, all homeless, were assaulted during the incident.

Authorities said that the police believe the suspect attacked a homeless man first, then drove east and found another male before attacking him as well with a stick.

Morales stated that the suspect attacked a homeless couple located across the street. Two of the victims died and two were injured.

The officers at the scene were able to identify the suspect, who had fled. After a foot chase, the suspect was taken into police custody.

Morales confirmed that the suspect, who was not named, is 30 years old and does not have any criminal records in this area. However, he has a criminal record in New York for “minor” crimes.

The investigation into this deadly attack is still open. Authorities consider these attacks to be examples of “unprovoked violent” assaults.
