New York City police are currently engaged in a manhunt for a suspect linked to the tragic deaths of a 77-year-old man and a 78-year-old woman. The elderly couple was discovered in their Queens home, the victims of what appears to be a homicide by fire, sources said.
An unknown man was observed knocking on doors on Monday, asking to charge a cell phone. One resident reportedly turned him away before he proceeded to the victims’ residence, sources said.
Surveillance footage captured the suspect rapping on the back door of the victims’ house around 10:15 a.m. The 77-year-old male victim was seen opening the door and allowing the stranger entry, sources said.

Detectives suspect the intruder remained in the dwelling for approximately five hours, presumably scavenging for valuables before setting the property on fire. The elderly victims appear to have been set alight in separate areas of the home, sources said.
Additional surveillance video documents the suspect exiting the premises at 3:08 p.m., mere moments before the house erupted in flames. The victim’s son, an off-duty paramedic with the New York City Fire Department, was notified by neighbors and rushed to the scene, only to find his parents deceased.
