A private Piper PA-32 aircraft, carrying two individuals, met with an unfortunate accident this Sunday morning in the Long Island Sound, near a Connecticut airport, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the U.S. Coast Guard.
The incident took place around 10:30 a.m., south of the Tweed New Haven Airport in New Haven, Connecticut, reports indicate. Following this, the Coast Guard Station New Haven, upon receiving notification from the air traffic control tower, dispatched a 45-foot boat to the location where the aircraft had gone down, in the vicinity of the Thimble Islands near Branford, Connecticut.

Upon reaching the scene, the Coast Guard found the two persons onboard the aircraft, rescuing them in what was reported as stable condition. Following the rescue, these occupants were ferried to the Stony Creek Pier in Branford, where they were received by emergency medical service workers, as stated by the Coast Guard.
An investigation into the incident is currently underway by the FAA. While the immediate crisis was handled efficiently, the incident raises important questions about aviation safety and procedures.
