Reports from Irvine, California, indicate that a dog trainer and his girlfriend have been charged in connection with the deaths of eleven dogs. The facts, as we know them, are these.
Kwong Chun Sit, also known as Tony Sit, has pleaded not guilty to multiple counts of animal cruelty, abuse, and evidence tampering. His girlfriend, Tingfeng Liu, faces charges of accessory to a felony and destruction of evidence. Both are currently held on $550,000 bail each.
The investigation began when a pet owner contacted police after being informed their dog had died and been cremated while in the trainer’s care. Subsequent inquiries revealed that eleven dogs had perished, with nine deaths occurring on or around a single day last week.

Of the three examinations completed thus far, two dogs reportedly died from heat stroke, while a third succumbed to blunt force trauma. This raises important questions about the conditions and treatment of animals under Mr. Sit’s supervision.
It appears Mr. Sit operated under various company names across Southern California, including “Happy K9 Academy.” The Irvine Police Department’s Animal Services Unit has recovered multiple dog bodies from crematoriums where they were allegedly left by the accused.
Both sides of this issue present compelling arguments. While the defendants maintain their innocence, prosecutors allege the couple was prepared to flee when arrested. The public’s right to information about pet care services is paramount, as is the need for a thorough investigation of such tragic incidents.
This is a developing story, and we will continue to report as more facts come to light. The importance of vigilance in animal welfare cannot be overstated.
