Recording artist Lil Nas X, whose legal name is Montero Lamar Hill, entered a plea of not guilty on Monday to multiple felony counts. The charges include three counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one count of resisting arrest. These charges stem from an incident that occurred in Studio City on Ventura Boulevard.
Reports from the Los Angeles Police Department indicate that officers responded to a situation involving Hill at approximately 5:50 a.m. on August 21. During their interaction, Hill allegedly charged at the officers, leading to his subsequent arrest and transportation to a nearby hospital for potential overdose concerns.
This development follows earlier reports that Hill’s bail was initially set at $300,000. However, the presiding judge at the Van Nuys courthouse reduced it to $75,000. This decision was based on Hill’s lack of prior convictions and the assessment that he does not pose a flight risk.

Outside the courthouse, Hill’s father, Robert Stafford, engaged with the press. He expressed that his son was remorseful for the incident and assured the public that Hill would seek the necessary help. “He’s great. Keep praying for him,” Stafford said.
It has been reported that Lil Nas X achieved significant recognition in the music industry in 2020. He won Grammy awards for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Best Music Video for his song “Old Town Road,” created in collaboration with Billy Ray Cyrus. The pair also received a Country Music Association award for their joint work.
This raises important questions about the future of Hill’s career, the potential legal repercussions of this incident, and how it might influence public perception.
