The American singer, Chris Brown, has pleaded not guilty in a London court to a serious charge of assault relating to an incident at a local nightclub two years ago, according to London’s Metropolitan Police.

Brown appeared at Southwark Crown Court in central London on Friday morning to enter his plea on a charge of grievous bodily harm. This charge stems from an alleged incident that occurred in London in 2023. The significance of this should not be overlooked, given Brown’s history with law enforcement.

Brown was arrested in Manchester, England, last month but was released after paying a £5 million security fee. He has continued to perform in concerts as part of his tour, including a recent show in Cardiff, Wales.

Brown has had multiple run-ins with law enforcement over the years. Most notably, in 2009, he pleaded guilty to felony assault of his then-girlfriend, Rihanna. He was subsequently ordered to rehab but was later dismissed from the facility and spent over two months in a Los Angeles County jail before his release in June 2014, as reported by the Associated Press. His probation in that case carried on until 2015.
