The U.S. Marshals Service has apprehended a 31-year-old Dominican man, Luis Francisco Soriano, who is wanted for a quadruple homicide in New York. Disturbingly, among the victims were children, aged 2 and 4. This information comes directly from a statement by the U.S. Marshals Service.

Luis Francisco Soriano, also known as Jefry Yevo, had been sought by the Irondequoit, New York, Police Department on four counts of second-degree murder, along with narcotics charges. These charges are connected to a brutal quadruple homicide that took place on August 31, 2024, in the vicinity of Rochester, New York.

Soriano was added to the U.S. Marshals Service District of Puerto Rico’s Top 10 Most Wanted fugitives list in September 2024. Investigations reveal that Soriano escaped to the Dominican Republic by boat, upon becoming aware of the federal marshals’ presence on the island. This raises important questions about the measures in place to prevent such escapes.

Reports indicate that Soriano was apprehended after investigators learned that he was working at a hotel in Punta Cana. The arrest was carried out by U.S. Marshals Service team members in Santo Domingo, in coordination with Dominican authorities, after Soriano had completed his work shift at the hotel’s call center.

U.S. Marshal for the District of Puerto Rico, Wilmer Ocasio-Ibarra, commended the work of the U.S. Marshals Service, both nationally and internationally. He emphasized the reassurance our communities should feel knowing that this fugitive will now face justice. He acknowledged the impact of this case, not just on the communities in New York and Puerto Rico, but on the entire nation.

Soriano will remain in the custody of Dominican authorities pending extradition proceedings. Marshal Ocasio recognized the contributions of all U.S. Marshals Service districts, divisions, and units involved, including the Office of International Operations, the Western District of New York, the New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force, and the Puerto Rico Violent Offender Task Force. He extended his gratitude to the public for providing key information that contributed to the successful apprehension of this dangerous fugitive.
