According to the police, “around 10” people were killed in a shooting that occurred on Tuesday in an adult education center in Orebro, Sweden. Police said at a press briefing held Tuesday evening local time that the victims were located inside the complex of schools. The school has been cordoned off.
A spokesperson for the Swedish police confirmed that the shooter was one of 10 people who died. The motive for the shooting is still unknown to the police.
Lars Hedelin said, “We don’t have any indications that this is terrorism, but we are not ruling anything out.”
The Swedish police did not identify the shooter, but they said that he was “no longer a threat to us.” Police officers are still searching for additional victims in the school.
Initially, the police reported that five people had been taken to hospital. The victims’ ages have not yet been revealed.
Hedelin replied, “We hadn’t had the chance to confirm that 10 people were killed until now. I would say all of them were shot, and they are all adults.”

In a press release, officials urged the public not to visit the Risbergska Skolan in Vasthaga in Orebro. According to the school’s website, it is only for students older than 20.
The Bergslagen police began posting a series of short statements at around 1 p.m. local to say that “a major operation” was in progress and that the school faced “deadly violence.”
Students were sent to nearby facilities and the police set up a point of information for families to gather.
Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kritersson stated that this was a “very difficult day for the entire country of Sweden”. He added, “The Government is in close communication with the Police Authority, and closely monitors developments.”
“My thoughts are also with all those whose normal school day was replaced with terror,” Kristersson wrote on X. “Being confined to a classroom with fear for your own life is a nightmare that no one should have to experience.”
The school is located about 200 km (or about 125 miles) west of Stockholm.
