Author Jack Carr published “The Terminal List”, in 2018. James Reese, the protagonist is a fictional character. Carr introduced an AI character in 2023 – a quantum AI computer named Alice. Alice is controlled by the U.S. Military, and only a few people know her. She seems to be “a good” Alice. Alice is an artificial super-brain that can view anything connected to any network. It can do this in milliseconds. Is she bad or good?

Fox News interviewed Carr about AI in May 2023 and his new plot device.

While the fast-evolving technology of artificial intelligence may be taking many authors today by surprise, No. 1 New York Times bestselling author Jack Carr is well ahead of the game, as is par for the course for this former Navy SEAL.

Carr said in a Fox News Digital interview that AI will be used heavily by the National Security space. The novel “Only the Dead”, which is due to hit the shelves on May 16, was published on Tuesday.

He said: “Now, the question is not ‘could’ or should’ we do it, as AI has already arrived.” It is now about managing AI in the industry. “I hope that AI will be used to better society, but as I have learned from the SEAL Teams – hope is not an action.”

AI is here for good. Five years ago, AI was largely a fictional plot element, even among the “smart geek” crowd. Are we going to see an “Alice”, or “HAL”, from 2001? Both are likely to be true.

Lex Fridman, a podcaster, had a five-and-a-half-hour conversation yesterday with Dario Amedei about the future of AI. The discussion covered what had happened, what AI looked like, and what was on the horizon.

What worries the geeks? They are concerned about the misuse and irreversible usage of cyber intelligence, as well as the creation of biological weaponry via AI. The AI genie is out of the jar. We cannot go back and even if wanted to, we could not put the genie back. We could. If we turned off all the electrical grids on earth, everyone could live like Amish. But that’s not likely.

What should we all be terrified of and what scares nerds? Bad actors. The West’s nerd class is competing with AI developers from around the world. In most cases not directly, but maybe to stop bad actors by using “our” AI to stop their bad AI. We (as the general public), don’t know what China, Iran, Russia, or freelance criminals are up to. These programmers say we should be worried about the next leap in AI and the age of super AI. It’s fun to create silly AI-generated artwork, but what happens when AI becomes aware? What if the people who are first in the race to the finish line are criminals?

Intelligent, educated individuals rarely cause catastrophes. This “natural safeguard”, which has protected mankind for centuries, is the result of this “natural safeguard”. AI, however, breaks this correlation and gives anyone dangerous abilities. They have already shown that this protection is crumbling.

By 2025 an “Alice” may be online and thinking. Hopefully “she” is thinking of ways to help, not hurt mankind. One hopes that we are not on the edge of “Skynet.” I am not confident that we aren’t.

Trump can close the Department of Education’s doors – that’s fine – but I am much more worried about the AI door which is about to be opened during his second term.
