Reports from the Texas-Mexico border indicate that a significant drug interception has taken place at the Hidalgo Port of Entry.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials have seized approximately 77 pounds of cocaine during a routine vehicle inspection. The narcotics, with an estimated street value exceeding one million dollars, were discovered hidden within a 2020 Renault Oroch.
The detection process involved both canine units and advanced imaging technology. CBP officers, upon closer examination, uncovered 30 packages containing what is alleged to be cocaine.
Port Director Carlos Rodriguez emphasized the importance of this seizure, stating, “This substantial cocaine seizure reflects the strong dedication of our officers to safeguarding the border, as well as their skillful use of experience and technology.”
Both the narcotics and the vehicle were confiscated by authorities. Homeland Security Investigations has initiated a criminal inquiry into the matter. This development raises important questions about the ongoing challenges of border security and drug trafficking.
