Officials said that a Russian drone attacked an apartment block in northeastern Ukraine at night, killing six people and injuring nine more.

According to the Sumy Regional Administration, the Shahed drone destroyed a wall in the building and the surrounding windows just after one in the morning. The Sumy regional administration said that four people were pulled from the rubble and a child was among the injured. It also added that 120 people had been evacuated.

According to the Sumy Regional Prosecutor’s Office, three married couples aged over 50 were killed. The regional administration declared two days of mourning for the city.

The Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy described it as “a tragedy and a terrible Russian criminal crime”.

According to the United Nations, more than 10,000 Ukrainians have been killed in the full-scale conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The war began almost three years ago, and it shows no sign of ending.

The Russian attack on the electricity grid has also caused hardships for civilians, as they have been unable to heat their homes or have running water. Many people have been evacuated along the frontline of the Ukrainian army, which is battling to keep the Russians at bay. The area is roughly 1,000 kilometers (600 miles) long.

Andrii Yermak of the Ukrainian Presidential Office said that Russian forces are now using Shahed drones, which have a payload of up to 90 kilograms (200 lbs) of explosives, metal shrapnel, and metal fragments. This is done to “increase casualties,” he added.

Yermak released photographs of what he said were the Shahed Warheads. One photo showed what looked like small pieces of metallic inside a metal cylinder case.

In recent months, the battlefield fighting in eastern Donetsk has been particularly fierce. Russian forces partially occupy this region and seem determined to capture it completely in the coming months.

Vadym Fillashkin, Donetsk Regional Head, wrote Thursday on his Telegram Channel that a Russian artillery attack on the Donetsk City of Kramatorsk injured 13 people including two children.

“Anyone who remains in the Donetsk region is putting themselves in mortal danger,” Filashkin said. “Take care of yourself! Evacuate.”

The air force reported that Russia launched over 80 drones against Ukraine during the night, in a common barrage. The air force reported that the majority of drones were either shot down or jammed by electronic devices.

Oleh Kiper, the regional director of Ukraine’s southern Odesa, wrote on Telegram that Russian drones had damaged a hospital in the region and two apartment blocks. He said no one was hurt.
