The Republican Party will continue to control the U.S. House of Representatives since the election in AZ-6 for the incumbent Rep. Juan Ciscomani.
There are still eight races to be called – seven in California, and one in Alaska. Alaska’s race is being delayed because of its ranked-choice voting system, while in California, mail ballots continue to be received until Tuesday.
It looks like in California, incumbent Republicans Michelle Steel, Ken Calvert, and Mike Garcia will retain their seats. John Duarte, however, and Mike Garcia face a more difficult battle. In Orange County, there are still some flips possible. Just a few thousand votes separate Republican Scott Baugh from Democrat Dave Min for the race to replace Rep. Katie Porter and just over a thousand between incumbent Democrat Jim Costa and Republican Michael Maher.
Cole Patterson, the data director for the California Republican Party, says that out of 12.5 million ballots, there are still approximately 4,000,000 to be processed.
Californian results don’t have to be certified until another 30 days.
