A 46-year-old man, who is a teacher by profession, was arrested in New Hampshire for attempted child trafficking.

While it is understandable to wonder why Mr. Lancaster wasn’t fired, one should remember that he has the same rights as any American citizen. He is entitled, just like anyone else, to a presumption of innocence and due procedure. Although he is facing serious charges, he has not yet been convicted. Administrative leave is therefore appropriate, even if it is unsatisfying.

Here are a few specifics:

Then this happened:

It’s hard to believe, but if Stacey Lancaster was convicted of these charges, not only should he never be allowed near a classroom again, but he would also be facing some serious jail time. Child abusers are notoriously treated poorly in prison because they are at the bottom of the food chain.

Background checks are popular among the leftists in this country when it comes time to buy guns. But if this case is successful and charges are proven to be warranted, then background checks should also be conducted on teachers.

It’s not just the alleged perp. I admit that this is purely speculation, but such people rarely exist in isolation. People often claim that the person in question was somehow shady after the event. Granted, hindsight always is 20/20, but one has to wonder if this may have been the case.

Stacey Lancaster appeared Monday in federal court and now awaits trial “at her mother’s home.”

We will continue to provide you with updates as they become available.
