Letitia James, New York Attorney General, says that accusations against her of falsifying real estate records are “baseless.”

Donald Trump called on James to resign after allegations that she falsified documents to obtain a mortgage loan for a Virginia property.

“Let’s just say that to all New Yorkers, and all Americans. The accusations are without foundation.” James said on Spectrum’s NY1 that the allegations were nothing more than revenge.

William Pulte, Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, sent a note to Pam Bondi (Attorney General) and Todd Blanche (Deputy Attorney General), saying that James “falsified documents” to obtain a mortgage on a Virginia property as her “principal home” in 2023 while she was New York’s attorney.

James’ office stated that she always made it clear that the house was not their primary residence, but her nieces.

Pulte noted in the letter that James and her dad signed a mortgage in 1983 stating that they were “husbands and wives to secure home mortgages.” On May 4, 2000, documents listed Ms. James as husband and spouse. Although this happened a long time back, it raises serious questions about the validity of Ms. James’ representations in mortgage applications.”

James said on NY1 that she would respond “at the appropriate moment and in the proper way” to the letter.

She said, “I’m more focused on, again, standing up for freedoms, liberties, and the rule of law in New York.”

James refused to reveal how many apartments her Brooklyn house had during her NY1 interview. The Trump administration claimed that she listed her home as having four instead of five units.

She said, “You know that I, like any other good lawyer, will not litigate in front of a camera.” “It’s important to respond to these accusations at the right time and in a proper way.”

James vowed loudly to take on Trump’s finances and businesses when she ran for office.

She prosecuted the Trump Organization and the President for fraud in a Democrat-run New York City trial.
