Ric Grenell ( Special Presidential Envoy for Special Missions in the Trump Administration) slammed Obama’s foreign policy and that of Biden’s diplomat Susan Rice, saying they were responsible for two wars the U.S. fought under Biden’s administration.
“Your guy couldn’t even talk to Putin. You’re policies have helped to bring about wars in Ukraine, Gaza…and Rwanda if I remember correctly,” Grenell wrote on Saturday.
He continued: “And you lied again about Libya, it was not caused by the video.” This refers to his 2012 claim that an anti-Islam film had led to the Benghazi terrorist attack against U.S. Government facilities in Libya. “You made it up …. Donald Trump gave you peace in Europe and the Middle East, but you brought us two wars. We see you,” he added.
Grenell responded to Susan Rice’s post, in which she claimed that conservatives were “up to the old tired crap,” following Donald Trump’s heated meeting on Friday with Ukraine’s President Volodomyr Zelenskyy.
Mollie Hemingway, a Federalist writer who posted on X, speculated that Rice and some other Democrats “personally advised” Zelenskyy to act “hostile” and “to try to provoke Trump to blow up” at the meeting. This prompted Rice to comment.
Rice wrote to X: “You clowns keep doing the same tired old crap.” When your man embarrasses the U.S. and himself, you lie and try to divert attention by blaming a target that is close to home. As a matter of record, I’ve never met Zelenskyy or spoken with him. Ever. Or advised him or anyone around him. You are wrong to say that selling out Ukraine to Putin and sucking up to him is in America’s national interest.
Hemingway replied, “Thanks for your reply. This denial is compared with your repeated lie about Benghazi being caused by a YouTube clip, or your claim that you “knew nothing” before you were forced to confess that you unmasked Trump officials.
Rice appeared on MSNBC last week and said “There’s no doubt” that Trump-Vance met with Zelenskyy was “a set up.”
It’s an extremely sad day and an embarrassment to the United States. Let’s take a step back to analyze the situation. She said, “I think that there is no doubt this was a set-up.”

The vice president started an argument with him as soon as [Zelenskyy] arrived. As a national security adviser, U.N. Ambassador, or other positions, I have been to countless Oval Office Meetings with heads of state, presidents, and vice presidents. I can assure you that a vice president, secretary of state, or anyone else would not jump into a discussion without first getting the approval of the President of the United States. JD Vance acted in this way on purpose. She continued, “Donald Trump was aware of what he would do.”
Zelenskyy met with senators from both parties before he met with Trump. Zelenskyy told a group of senators that included Sens. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn), Chris Coons (D-Del. ), and Lindsey Graham R-S.C. that he wouldn’t “support a false peace agreement” at that meeting.
Just finished meeting President Zelensky here in Washington. “He confirmed that the Ukrainians will not back a fake agreement in which Putin receives everything he desires and where there is no security arrangement for Ukraine,” posted Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) to X Friday morning.

Zelenskyy met Trump and his staff in the Oval Office soon after the Senate Meeting. Political fireworks ensued as Zelenskyy took issue with JD Vance, who argued that the U.S. should engage in diplomacy to secure peace between Russia and Ukraine.
Trump stated at one time during the meeting, “You are gambling with millions of lives.” You’re playing with World War III. “You’re playing with World War III.” “What you are doing shows a great disrespect to this country.”
Vance interjected as well, asking Zelenskyy if he “had said thank you one time this whole meeting.”
According to the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), Congress has allocated $175 billion for assistance to Ukraine since 2022. However, the exact amount of money that the U.S. provided Ukraine varies depending on what constitutes aid.

According to the German think-tank Kiel Institute, total European aid to Ukraine from January 2022 to December 2024 will amount to $138.7 billion. The U.S. contributed $119.7 billion during this same period.
“Your people are very brave,” Trump continued in the meeting. “But you’re either going to make a deal, or we’re out. And if we’re out, you’ll fight it out. I don’t think it’s going to be pretty, but you’ll fight it out. But you don’t have the cards. But once we sign that deal, you’re in a much better position. But you’re not acting at all thankful. And that’s not a nice thing. I’ll be honest. That’s not a nice thing.”
Zelenskyy visited the U.K. over the weekend. He met with British Premier Keir Starmer, who informed local media he spoke with Trump and French president Emmanuel Macron about the U.K. taking over in crafting a peace plan that would be eventually presented to the U.S.
On Sunday, European leaders will meet in London to continue the peace negotiations.
