Five days after making online threats against Donald J. Trump – a drag queen and chef was arrested and booked on Friday. The man requested: “Bullets, please. Jesus, save America” at 9:59 p.m. on his Facebook page.

West Palm Beach Police Chief Tony Araujo told reporters on Saturday that Shannon Atkins had been arrested after postings bemoaning the fact that she was arrested following attacks against presidents Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy as well as civil rights leader Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. – and Trump – “Unfortunately, only one of them is still alive.”

On his X profile, Atkins describes himself as a “Certified Baker, Chef, and Drag Queen”.

Owner of Big Mama’s Big House of Sweets who is a local drag queen, comic, and promotes local drag shows, appears to weigh more than 300 pounds and be over six feet tall.

Atkins’ X account @atkinsbigchef23 is now private. However, he boasted on Facebook about how this X had been taken down because it violated community standards. It was now back.

Araujo stated that the FBI National Threat Operation Center received the tip on January 19.

Atkins, the sheriff informed reporters, was stopped in his white 2013 BMW near one of Atkins’ two homes.

The lawman, after quoting Atkins who is also a comedian, told reporters that Atkins’ posts were a prank.

Trump has yet to comment on Atkins’s arrest. He is currently wrapping up his trip after returning to the White House, during which he visited the survivors of the destruction caused by Hurricanes Helene, Milton, and the wildfires that ravaged southern California, and spoke with supporters at a Las Vegas rally.

The president was able to survive a shooting on July 13, in Butler, Pennsylvania by Thomas Matthews Crooks, and another attempt foiled on Sept. 15, after Secret Service agents found gunman Ryan Wesley Routh waiting for Trump in his Trump International Golf Club.

Sean Curran was a member of Trump’s personal security detail in the campaign for 2024 and has been nominated as the Secret Service Director.

A source familiar with the case said that Atkins faces state charges and not federal charges yet, even though the FBI and Secret Service worked together with the West Palm Beach Police Department.

Atkins’ Facebook page featured posts in support of gay rights and transgender equality, as well as promotions for his drag show, his bakery business, and his culinary career.

Atkins made an appearance on WPTV in 2017, a local NBC affiliate that is owned by E.W. Scripps, where he appeared in his chef’s whites for a segment.

Atkins was arrested on three counts: intimidation (written or electronic) to kill or harm a person; possession of controlled substances without a prescription and smuggling contraband in a county detention facility.

Atkins’ drug charges could prove to be the most difficult for him, depending on the extent to which he acted upon Atkins’ threats.

He was held in the main detention area of the Palm Beach County Sheriff and denied bail.
