John Fetterman, a Pennsylvania Democrat, has made some surprising remarks about Donald Trump’s nominations to fill positions in his new administration.
It’s fascinating that the senator will admit truths even if many of his supporters won’t. He is willing to back Republicans and criticize Democrats when they make bad decisions.
He acknowledged, for example, that Trump would be strong in Pennsylvania – a crucial state – before the election. In an interview with Politico, he reiterated his belief that Trump has a “special relationship” with the residents of Pennsylvania.
Fetterman referred to the “Walmart of Trump Swag” in western Pennsylvania where “people pull up and buy” Trump gear like “fireworks” on July 3rd:
Fetterman also said that Elon Musk’s support of Trump was important — and Democrats appeared “weak” for trying to stop the $1 million giveaway to his voters. He said that the assassination of Trump in Butler, just 45 minutes from his house, “changed all.”
“Immediately after that, when I was out, I saw people with custom shirts with that image,” he said, referring to the iconic photo of Trump raising his fist after being shot. “It’s like, ‘They tried everything. They impeached this man, they put him on trial. You know, the media. And now they tried to kill him, and he survived.’ And he had the presence of mind to even respond and create that. What if that was [Barack] Obama? Can you imagine what that would have meant to Democrats?”

You wouldn’t expect a Democrat, however, to admit that. He understands the importance of that moment for many, particularly those from the region.
Fetterman made it clear that he would not demonize anyone because they voted for Trump. He spoke against Democrats’ tactics of labeling Trump supporters as “fascists”.
I love people who are going to vote for Trump. They are not fascists. They are not these things. If you use terms like tickle switch and other similar ones, it is hard to go back.
This is a term that’s not part of the voter’s vocabulary. Democrats will never be able to get away with scolding or clutching pearls more.
Fetterman spoke out also against demonizing young men or dismissing them by calling them “bros”. “Like they are unsophisticated or shallow or crass,” he said. “We dismiss them,” he added.
This is exactly what you want to hear. Some young men have more in common than they thought with Trump and JDVance after listening to them on podcasts such as Joe Rogan. Fetterman stated that he did not “understand” why Kamala Harris would avoid appearing on Rogan. This was an implicit criticism of Kamala.
I’ve been a fan of his for a very long time. I don’t always agree with his views. We all have a responsibility to question our own views and be part of these conversations.
42 million people watched the Trump interview with Rogan. The platform that he built — to ignore it — I cannot imagine why anyone would.

They tried to blame Biden’s loss on Biden, but now Fetterman is blaming Nancy Pelosi, the former House Speaker (D-CA), for how she handled Joe Biden getting shoved aside.
People like [Nancy] Pelosi, she really tried to — what’s the word I’m looking for? — she embraced this “She’s the godmother, she’s the enforcer.” And now she’s blaming Biden. Well, you can’t have it both ways. You got what you wanted, and now you’re still blaming Biden.
It’s ironic to have a woman who is 84 years old still holding on. Why not allow a younger generation to take that seat?
That’s brutal. It’s a nice way of saying, “Get on with it already.”
The powers that be were responsible for all of this. They wanted us to think that Biden was perfect; he had the sharpest mind ever. After the debate, suddenly people started to come out of hiding to criticize him and push him out. They never allowed anyone to replace him and the people were never given the chance to vote on the final nominee. The whole process was a mess, and they can’t blame just him.
It was good of Fetterman to call that out and Nancy for getting what she wanted.
