Many in the United States military, particularly those in the Pacific region, knew, during the days that led up to the 7th of December 1941, that we would eventually be at war with Japan. Japan had invaded China and created a puppet nation called Manchukuo out of Manchuria. They were now preparing for naval warfare on the largest theatre of operations in the world, the Pacific Ocean. The war started with the attack on Pearl Harbor. It was an attempt to cripple the U.S. Pacific Fleet and force the U.S. back to the negotiation table or for us to withdraw to the West Coast.

We must remember that this attack was a major attack on a military facility (for the most part), and it was in line with the normal expectations of war. Today, we are faced with another potential adversary in Asia, a country that is envious of its neighbors and has thousands within our borders. Fox Business published a video on Thursday of Maria Bartiromo talking with China expert Gordon Chang about China, the mysterious UAVs hovering over our military bases, and much more. Summary: Mr. Chang made several points that explained why he believes China is planning to strike us in some way.

Gordon Chang says:

Many of these drones are from Communist China, perhaps even the majority. The increased frequency of drone flights against military bases coincides with an increase in incursions, and attempts to incursions from Chinese and other nationals. What is happening is that the Chinese are preparing an attack on American soil. I don’t understand why we would need an invitation engraved from Beijing. What’s going to happen is clear. We will be hit, and we’re not taking the precautions necessary to protect our bases and the American people.

It’s important to keep in mind that when Mr. Chang says “Chinese nationals and others,” this is the direct result of the Biden Administration’s failure to enforce the border. We have, in essence, laid a red rug for invaders from China as well as from other hostile countries on the planet. We have no idea who these people are, where they live, or what they’re doing.

This kind of activity is happening a lot right now. Chinese nationals have been spotted near military bases. Chinese interests are also buying farmland in suspicious proximity to these bases. And now, we are seeing drones flying over our bases. The Biden administration assures us that these are not a cause for concern.

Will the new Trump administration have any impact? Maybe for a little while.

Maria Bartiromo questioned Mr. Chang in the interview about our readiness.

MARIA: Yesterday, the Pentagon published its report on China’s military power in 2024. The report found that Beijing was increasing its pressure on Taiwan and ramping up aggression in the South China Sea. It also said it was deepening its relations with Russia. And its crackdown on corruption within the military may have slowed down progress toward its 2027 goal. China has also been increasing its nuclear arsenal. In the past year alone, at least 100 warheads have been added to the arsenal. Gordon, this number could reach over 1,000 by 2030. The Biden-Harris Administration has never responded to Beijing’s actions. Why don’t they shoot down the drones in flight if they suspect that they are from China, just as we let the spy balloon fly across the country for over a week before shooting it down?

GORDON G. CHANG, There is no good answer. Base commanders don’t even have the necessary equipment or authority to shoot down drones. The Chinese are also noticing, and they’re seeing a huge vulnerability.

China isn’t alone in noticing a vulnerability. The incoming Trump administration will make a big difference to our military posture. It will be a huge difference if we eliminate the DEI horse-squeeze and restore the armed forces to their primary function, which is to close with the enemy and destroy them by fire, maneuver, and shock. Restoring our Navy requires building high-tech warships, not just cargo hulls. This is not possible in four years.

Here’s the issue: China isn’t a country of great ideas. It is a place of great momentum. We in the New World have a difficult time understanding how Asians view history. They don’t measure it in centuries, but rather in thousands. China’s leaders, both civil and military, (there is little difference) might view Trump’s second tenure as a temporary setback. They may also assume that another weaksauce Democrat would come along and continue to hamstring our military and ruin our economy.

They could be right. From their perspective, that may be the right time to strike. It is not yet clear what form the strike will take, but the fact that there are so many Chinese nationals living in the United States illegally suggests that it may not be like Pearl Harbor, where one military force attacks another. Instead, it could be decentralized and carried out by cells that target our infrastructure and economy. We are not equipped to deal with these attacks. Gordon Chang has likely warned us about this “hit”.

China must know. We can bet that China knows this. Only one question remains: Will Chinese access to America’s consumer markets outweigh the Chinese Communist Party’s imperialist aspirations?
