A mother from Arizona, identified as 31-year-old Brandie Gotch, has been handed a ten-year prison sentence after a disturbing incident in which she drove her pickup truck through a populated park, leading to the injury of a 12-year-old girl. This report comes directly from the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.
The incident occurred in February 2024 at Westgreen Park in Peoria during a conflict involving Gotch’s children. Other children at the park reportedly escalated the situation by recording the incident and adding to the confrontation.
Gotch arrived at the park to retrieve her children and was subjected to derogatory remarks from two young boys. The situation escalated further when Gotch reacted aggressively, chasing one boy around the park. Reports indicate that Gotch then returned to her vehicle, at which point another boy allegedly taunted her from behind the truck.

Upon backing out of her parking space, it has been reported that Gotch drove her vehicle directly towards the two children. The boy was able to evade the truck; however, his sister was not as fortunate and was struck by Gotch’s vehicle. Gotch continued to drive through the park, causing alarm among the other children present, before leaving the scene. She was later apprehended at her residence.
This incident, though it could have resulted in more severe injuries or even fatalities, resulted in a sprained ankle, as well as cuts and bruises for the young girl who was struck. Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell emphasized the expectation for adults to exhibit mature behavior, regardless of emotions.
This raises important questions about the safety of public spaces and the responsibility of adults in managing their frustrations. Gotch, after pleading guilty to three counts of aggravated assault, a class two dangerous felony, will now serve her ten-year sentence, as confirmed by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.
