A deadly plane crash occurred in Colorado on Sunday, the result of a mid-air collision between two small planes attempting to land at Fort Morgan Municipal Airport. One person lost their life in this tragic event, while three others suffered injuries.
The planes involved were a Cessna 172 and an Extra Flugzeugbau EA300. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reports that the collision occurred as both aircraft were making their approach to the airport.
Details from the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office reveal that the Cessna, with two people on board, was nearing the end of its landing sequence when it was hit by the other aircraft, which also carried two passengers. The Cessna subsequently crashed and caught fire.

The incident was reported around 10:44 a.m. local time. Responding to the crash were deputies from the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, officers from the Fort Morgan Police Department, Colorado State Patrol, Fort Morgan Fire Department, and Morgan County Ambulance.
Two individuals aboard the Cessna sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene. One occupant from the second plane was transported to a local hospital. The fourth person involved was sadly pronounced dead at the scene by the Morgan County Coroner’s Office.
The FAA, along with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), is presently investigating the cause of the collision. The identities of those involved have not yet been disclosed due to the ongoing investigation.
The local sheriff’s office, expressing its condolences to the family and friends of the victim, extended gratitude to both the agencies and citizens who assisted in the response to this tragic event.
