Meta Platforms, formerly known as Facebook Inc. CEO Mark Zuckerberg “leans” left. the billionaire has a penchant for censoring conservative content on Facebook but is far from stupid.
Leftists have dominated social media for many years. But Donald Trump’s stunning victory over Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2024 election sent shockwaves throughout the elite leftist community.
Harris’s campaign, which was exposed repeatedly as a San Francisco Leftist and fraud, was the last straw. Her choice of the even more radical and leftist Minnesota Governor was baffling. Tim Walz and radical leftism, including DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) sealed her fate. Voters from coast to coast, from north to southern, voted decisively to kick the insanity out.
Zuckerberg was more concerned about what was happening with CNN and MSNBC, as their ratings continued to plummet, their “talent” on air continued to compare Trump with Adolf Hitler and outright call him fascist and compare his supporters to Nazis. The left screamed at the moon ad nauseam about how Trump was going to throw his enemies in “concentration camps”, and end the democracy of America as we knew it.
The ratings dropped. Ratings dropped. Profits fell.
Zuckerberg, in a nutshell, has decided to (right?) read the obvious writing on the left-wing wall and stop bleeding on Facebook. The obvious writing (righting?) on the wall of the left wing has convinced Zuckerberg to stop the bleeding.
As a long-time user and a large following, I have, incidentally, been “thrown into the Zuckerville Gulag” many times over for posting “offensive material.” Truth be told, it’s always been a badge I’ve worn.
How It Went Down?
Meta has announced that it will end its notorious fact-checking program and lift restrictions on speech to “restore freedom of expression” across Facebook and Instagram platforms. Meta finally admitted that its current content moderating practices have “gone too much.” In a video that was posted on Tuesday, Zuckerberg stated:
We are going to go back to our roots, simplify our policies, and restore free expression on all of our platforms. We’re going to get rid of fact-checkers and replace them with Community Notes, similar to X. This will start in the U.S.
Joe Kaplan, Meta’s chief global affairs officer, was scheduled to be interviewed exclusively on “Fox & Friends,” Tuesday morning, to discuss these changes. Kaplan spoke to Fox News Digital before his appearance:
We sought independent fact-checkers. There is a lot of political bias in the fact-checking they do.
Kaplan stated that Meta will “end this completely” and replace it with a model called “Community Notes”, similar to Elon Musk’s X, formerly Twitter. Why, do tell? Once again, Zuckerberg is not stupid.
Kaplan explained further that:
It (community notes), instead of going to a so-called expert to comment on something they read, relies on community members and people on the platform. This is a better way to go than having so-called experts bring in their biases.
After a second thought, I realize that Meta’s (Zuckerberg’s) admission is a Flying Pigs discovery, even if it was prompted by necessity and not desire.
