It’s a good thing when Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-MD is called out, Tuesday was a great day.

Raskin, who is one of those faces of the Resistance, has been one of the loudest voices, complaining about the Elon Musk-led DOGE’s efforts to root out waste, fraud, and abuse in federal institutions. He even suggested, bizarrely, that Musk had attempted a coup and that it was being discussed whether or not he should be impeached.

Raskin is also the House Democrat who led the J6 impeachment attempt against President Trump and also tried to prevent his election certification in 2017.

The House Judiciary Subcommittee for the Administrative State Reform, Regulatory Reform, and Antitrust held a hearing on Tuesday entitled “Reining in the Administrative State: Regulatory and Administrative Law Reform.”

Raskin, along with other Democratic members of the Committee, wanted Musk to be the main focus of the hearing.

Magatte Wade is a Senegalese-born entrepreneur and author who immigrated to America in 1998 from Africa. She became a US citizen in 2018 and knows first-hand what excessive regulation can do to individuals and countries.

Wade, who has a successful business in Texas, after trying it in California and New York first, had a prepared statement with her when called to testify. She began reading the statement as soon as she was asked. She strayed early from the prepared statement to comment on Raskin’s conduct at the hearing.

Your words earlier, Mr. Raskin scared me. I’ll tell you why. You said that we were here to discuss Mr. Elon and the ‘unconstitutional things’ he is doing. And that we shouldn’t have been here to discuss regulation or anything else. Why did you bring me here, first of all?

My time as an entrepreneur is precious. I thought that we would be discussing the regulatory state, and why it is important. You need to decide what you think about that. What you said is deeply offensive.

We are where we are because of the excessive regulation in my country. Africa is the poorest continent in the entire world because it’s the most overregulated. If you don’t think it’s worth reining in overregulation and if you want to wait for this country to become like the majority of African countries, I don’t know. I love this nation and don’t wish to see it fall into that category.

Watch:

Wade, after her testimony on Twitter/X, confirmed that she was proud to have stood up to the pro-regulation Democrats in the committee.

Indeed. You go, girl.
