Kyiv says that Russia has suffered over three-quarters of a million casualties in its war against Ukraine. According to reports, the number of casualties is increasing to 2,000 every day.

According to official figures from the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Russia faced its deadliest day of the war on Monday, with 1,950 casualties, including killed and wounded. The number slightly decreased on Tuesday, with Ukraine reporting 1,770 Russian casualties over the course of the day.

Ukraine claims that in the past two days, it has destroyed 47 Russian tanks, 130 armored fighting vehicles, and 81 of these on Monday. The Russian counter-counteroffensive to recapture their territory in Kursk is largely responsible for the high number of casualties. North Korean troops are also involved in this battle.

The alleged casualty total for Monday would be more than five times the number of casualties that Kremlin forces suffered in the first days of the conflict, in March and April 2022.

The rapid increase in daily deaths and injuries highlights the shift from Russia’s early manoeuvre warfare to rush Kyiv and capture the government center before the resistance had fully developed to the attrition-based war today, which is allegedly a “human wave”.

It is vital to keep morale high for both sides during wartime and to conceal the true number of casualties. Ukraine claims that Russia has suffered over 714,000 casualties since the start of the conflict. The estimate is similar – or even slightly higher – to that of the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence, which estimated “likely”, 648,000 dead and wounded in early October.

The United Kingdom publicly announced that the number of Russian casualties has reached 700,000. This was only done last weekend.

Although the West’s media and governments often discuss the Russian casualties, they rarely talk about how the Ukrainian military did. Kyiv doesn’t publish its statistics. Zelensky, however, stated that in February 2024, on the second anniversary of the start of the conflict, 31,000 Ukrainians were killed in combat.

The Wall Street Journal is a U.S. paper affiliated with intelligence agencies, and published by The Wall Street Journal. It was reported recently that the number killed or injured in the fall was close to 500,000. The United States Government estimates this number at 300,000. The United States government estimates the number at 300,000. Russia has the highest figures with over half a million in the spring.
