According to sources with knowledge of the case and documents filed Wednesday, a man working for the U.S. Government abroad is accused of leaking information that appears to show Israel’s plans to retaliate against Iran.

According to court documents, Asif Rahman has been charged with the willful transmission of information about national defense.

Documents are vague as to what Rahman allegedly shared. However, sources confirm that the charges relate to the leak widely reported last month. It is not yet clear if Rahman was the main source of the leak.

According to the charges, Rahman, who was captured in Cambodia on Tuesday, has been brought to Guam.

Documents purporting Israel’s retaliation plan were leaked online in October. This could have exposed plans for America’s ally, a serious breach of national safety.

In October, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told reporters that the Department takes this situation “very seriously.”

The New York Times was first to report on Rahman’s arrest.
