Four DHS employees who worked for FEMA, the sub-agency of DHS, have been terminated because they violated an executive order issued by President Donald Trump. During the first week in February, a payment of $59m was made to New York City’s luxury hotels to accommodate illegal immigrants. The White House had ordered such spending to stop, and the money was to be redirected to disaster relief funds for Americans.
Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency discovered the payment.

The @DOGE team has just discovered that FEMA sent $59M to luxury hotels in New York City LAST WEEK to house illegal migrants. This money was sent in violation of the law, and total disregard for the executive order. The money was meant to help Americans in disaster situations, but instead, it is spent on luxury hotels for illegals. Today, a clawback request will be issued to recover those funds.
The perpetrators had not been identified as of Monday night but were located overnight. Fox News reported that a senior DHS employee said the four government workers would be fired because they “unilaterally made the egregious payments.”
It may seem simple to those in the private sector. But given the way the government operates, I would expect that this is just the beginning of an ongoing battle. You can bet that a lawsuit has already been prepared. It’s easier to sprout wings and fly than terminate a government bureaucrat. You can bet that a lower court judge will issue a temporary restraining order. This seems to be the weapon used to try to prevent Donald Trump from operating as president.
The Trump administration has no choice but to keep moving forward. The fight over bureaucratic powers will hopefully lead to a Supreme Court decision that puts an end to the deep state subversion. Trump was elected by American voters, regardless of whether or not you agree with him. The American people voted for Trump knowing that the legal authority over federal agencies lies with the president. They didn’t vote to give faceless bureaucrats the final say on how taxpayer money is spent.
Democrats who continue to push this issue by lawfare will regret their actions.
