The Tudor-style Queens home where President Donald Trump spent the first four years of his life has sold for $1.93 million, concluding a remarkable journey from neglect to renewal.

The five-bedroom, three-bathroom residence in the affluent Jamaica Estates neighborhood was built in 1940 by Fred Trump, the president’s father and a prominent developer. The Trump family has not owned the property for many years, though it has remained a point of historical interest given the president’s subsequent rise to prominence.

Developer Tommy Lin purchased the home last year for $835,000 after it had sat vacant and deteriorated significantly. The property required substantial rehabilitation, having suffered water damage and mold from a burst pipe. During its period of neglect, a colony of feral cats had taken up residence in the structure.

Lin invested approximately $500,000 in an eight-month renovation that modernized the interior while preserving the home’s character. The improvements included installation of herringbone wood floors, construction of a chef’s kitchen, and the addition of spa-style bathrooms. The work transformed what had become an uninhabitable structure into a contemporary residence befitting its historic neighborhood.

A buyer, whose identity has not been disclosed, entered into a contract for the property in July. The sale price appeared on real estate websites Friday.

The home’s recent history reflects the peculiar intersection of real estate investment and political celebrity. In 2017, months after Mr. Trump assumed the presidency, an entity called Trump Birth Home LLC purchased the property for $2.14 million. The buyers briefly listed it as a rental property, furnished with Trump-themed memorabilia including cardboard cutouts of the president, copies of his book “The Art of the Deal,” and framed magazine covers.

That venture proved short-lived. The home returned to market in 2019 with an asking price of $2.9 million but failed to attract a buyer at that price point. The subsequent period of vacancy led to the deterioration that Lin’s renovation addressed.

President Trump, now 80, built his fortune in real estate development, most notably with the construction of Trump Tower in Manhattan, where he resided for decades before entering politics. His business success and public profile provided the foundation for his eventual political career.

The president’s attention to residential matters extends to his current official residence. His administration is overseeing significant modifications to the White House, including the addition of a massive ballroom. He has also personalized the Oval Office with gold-plated fixtures characteristic of properties bearing his name, reflecting an aesthetic preference that has defined his brand throughout his business career.

The sale of the Queens property closes another chapter in the ongoing story of structures associated with the Trump name, even as the president himself continues to shape the nation’s most famous address.
