Trump replied by thanking Biden. He said that politics is difficult and in many cases not very pleasant, but today it is nice. He promised a smooth transition.
The meeting is Trump’s first trip to the White House after he left in January 2021, following another controversial election. Karine Jean Pierre, White House Press Secretary, said that the meeting was a good example of the president’s respect towards democratic norms. She told ABC News that the meeting was important, not only because it was important for him but also because it was important for the American people. The American people deserve it. The president-elect met with House Republicans on Wednesday near the Capitol. House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-LA, expressed his excitement at Trump’s return. He declared, “It’s a new dawn in America.” He said that the GOP was “ready to deliver on Trump’s Agenda on Day 1 of Trump’s administration.”
