Gleaton, Jones was a former Georgia Bulldogs runner who played on the team that won the national championship in 2021. He died last week after sustaining injuries from a car accident. He was 21.

According to The Red & Black, the student newspaper of the University of Georgia, Jones was in Florida on a hunting expedition when he got into a car accident. The wreck caused a brain injury and he was admitted to the ICU of a Florida hospital.

An obituary of Jones stated that “Gleaton was a man who lived life to its fullest, and exuded enthusiasm and joy in everything he did.” “At such a young age, he was able to create a rich life for himself and others by investing in his family, his friends, his fraternity, and his service to others. His closest friends called him ‘Gleat’ and described him as joyful and magnetic.

“There was not a room large enough for his brilliant light to fill. He was popular, liked, charming, and humble. But even more, he made his friends feel important and loved. His joyous disposition and lightheartedness could bring others happiness and his listening skills gave many people peace of mind.”

Jones attended Deerfield Windsor School in Georgia, before committing to the Bulldogs. Jones was a multi-sport athlete in school, but he chose football.

He played for the Bulldogs only one season.

The obituary concluded, “There are many blessings in the love, support, and prayers that were given to Gleaton’s family and all those who loved him.” Your prayers have lifted their burdens, which were too heavy to bear alone.

The Albany community, Deerfield-Windsor School, families, and members of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity poured love and encouragement into their lives and they will be forever grateful.

The memorial service for Jones is scheduled to take place at Wynfield plantation on Monday.
