Officials said that police are searching for motives after a man is alleged to have killed two and injured four other people in an Ohio manufacturing plant during a workplace shooting.

New Albany police reported that officers responded to a report of an active shooter at a New Albany KDC/One facility, which is a beauty product manufacturer. The response took place around 10:30 pm on Tuesday.

Police reported that five people were hospitalized, and one victim had been found dead. The police announced on Thursday morning that one of five hospitalized patients had died due to their injuries. Police said that the four survivors are still hospitalized and in unknown condition.

Police reported that approximately 150 employees had been evacuated safely.

New Albany Police Chief Greg Jones stated that the suspect, identified by police as Bruce Reginald Foster III was able to flee just before they arrived.

Foster, 28 years old, was arrested Wednesday morning in Columbus at a residence, Jones reported.

Jones, at a Wednesday news conference, said that he was still investigating a motive.

Jones stated that authorities interviewed the evacuated workers and that “nobody reported that there had been any conflict or that Foster was having trouble at work.”

The chief said that the victims were likely Foster’s coworkers, and they probably knew each other.

.New Albany is a safe community, but “any community in America can fall victim to random workplace violence,” New Albany Mayor Sloan Spalding said at the news conference.

Foster legally bought the gun used in the shooting in September 2024, authorities noted.
