Target, a U.S. retailer, announced Friday that it will end its three-year diversity equity and inclusion goals. Target joins an increasing number of American companies in scaling back these initiatives.
Target stated in a press release, “This decision is consistent with a larger trend among major corporations to reevaluate their DEI programs.” Meta, for example, has recently discontinued several initiatives that were aimed at increasing diversity in the workplace.
Target added, “These corporate initiatives occur amid a national dialogue on DEI Initiatives, influenced recent executive orders and federal policy changes.” “For example, President Donald Trump has signed an executive directive ending DEI across the federal governments.”

Target announced that it will also end its Racial Equity Action and Change initiatives (REACH).
Target has said that it will “refocus on employee resource groups, development, and mentoring, to ensure these communities are open to all employees.”
