The State Department of President Donald Trump issued a “one-flag policy” on February 14, dictating only that the Stars and Stripes be flown in all U.S. embassies and outposts, both at home and abroad.

The order prohibits U.S. institutions from displaying flags associated with movements such as Black Lives Matter or Gay Pride. These flags were flown over U.S. Government buildings in the United States and abroad, and the White House during the Biden Administration.

The Washington Free Beacon obtained a copy of the order. It stated that “Starting immediately only the United States of America Flag is authorized to fly or display at U.S.

The flag of the United States of America unites all Americans in the universal principles of liberty, justice, and democracy. All Americans, both past and present, share these values that are the foundation of our great nation.

According to The Free Beacon, Secretary of State Marco Rubio gave the order Tuesday shortly after his inauguration ceremony. The memo is part of Trump’s promise during his campaign to remove woke policies in the federal government. This includes those that dealt with diversity, equity and inclusion, gender identity, and other issues.

On his first day as president, Trump issued an Executive Order calling for the elimination of government DEI programs and environmental justice.

A second executive order signed by him declared that there are only two biological genders: male and female. The order directed federal agencies not to use gender identity pronouns or gender at conception in government documents, and to keep women’s-only areas within prisons and shelters.

The White House also confirmed that U.S. federal workers working in diversity offices are required to be on paid leave as of Wednesday night since the new administration ordered the program closure.

According to The Free Beacon, the Biden White House permitted the State Department to fly an array of Pride flags along with the Stars and Stripes. The U.S. Embassy in Nassau, Bahamas raised the rainbow Pride Flag as part of the U.S. Government’s official celebration of Pride Month.

In June 2023, the Biden administration also draped Pride flags across the White House as it celebrated Pride Month with a party held on the South Lawn. Several transgender guests posed topless during that party.

The Biden administration also raised the Black Lives Matter flag at the U.S. embassy and consulates in Brazil to celebrate Black History Month in February 2022.
