John Kennedy (R) is the only senator who has a talent for asking questions about Democratic witnesses or Biden nominees. He is a master at pointing out the contradictions or problems in their statements, usually in a humorous way.

The Senate Budget Committee heard testimony on the “climate-driven insurance crisis” Wednesday. Sen. Kennedy interrogated Dr. Benjamin Keys who is a Professor of Real Estate and Finance from Wharton and was a witness on behalf of the Democrats. It didn’t go well. Kennedy asked him to talk about a piece he had written for The NY Times. The title was “Climate Change Should Make You Rethink Home Ownership.” Kennedy asked him whether he owned a house.

Keys admitted that he had and said it was in an area prone to flooding.

“Have You sold it?” Kennedy asked cheekily.

Keys replied, “I do not live in my house.” I’m not certain he understood what Kennedy meant when he said he lived in his house.

Kennedy remarked, “Well you’re telling everybody else to sell theirs.”

He wasn’t finished yet. Kennedy asked him whether he was an extremist on climate change or a political extremist. Keys denied that.

Kennedy asked him to comment on a tweet Keys sent in July 2024, which Kennedy claimed Keys had made. In the tweet Keys said that Democrats’ biggest problem is they “don’t know how to speak to low-information morons.” Keys denied that those words were his. He said that he did not believe he tweeted those words. He claimed he may have liked or retweeted someone else’s Tweet.

Kennedy was adamant about it.

Do you like tweets that you disagree with? Kennedy asked.

Keys insisted, “Those weren’t my words.”

Kennedy declared, “You cannot make this catwalk in reverse.”

Now that’s a classic in the Kennedy catalog. People on X loved it.

Kennedy had earlier in the week slammed NCAA President Charlie Baker over the issue of trans athletes.

Baker was forced to concede that women’s sports athletes have an edge after Baker had said the issue was “debatable.” Kennedy then asked Baker during a heated discussion, “Why don’t you buy a spine on Amazon and take a position?” after Baker implied that the NCAA had no choice on how to respond because the courts hadn’t made their decision clear.

In a Thanksgiving epic message, he also slammed Hollywood for insulting Trump supporters and encouraged Trump supporters to stay “deplorable.”

Kennedy gets to the point and cuts right through the rhetoric, pointing out that what witnesses say is not what they do. He is not afraid to expose hypocrisy and hold them accountable. It’s great to see.
