Newsweek reported on Wednesday that Tupilak Travel in Greenland had initially accepted and then rejected Usha Vance’s tourism plans.
“We agreed because we welcome almost everyone. We have carefully considered the request and decided to decline it, as we do not want to disrupt events or media coverage,” the tour company said on Facebook Tuesday.
The abrupt reversal coincides with backlash against the Trump administration for its renewed efforts to buy Greenland.

On Wednesday, during a radio interview, President Donald Trump told host Vince Coglianese that the Trump delegation visiting the Danish outpost was making visits “to let them know we need Greenland for international safety and security. We need it. We have to have it.”
The president said, “From a defensive, and even offensive, posture is something we need it. The world is in a very difficult situation. We’re going to need it. I hate to say it, but it’s true.”
