The Pentagon has denied Rep. Jeff Van Drew’s (R-NJ’s) claim that a mysterious unidentified Iranian drone was launched from a “mothership” off the East Coast United States.
Sabrina Singh was asked by a Pentagon spokeswoman if the claim that Iran had “launched motherships” containing drones, which were reportedly spotted in New Jersey, Staten Island, and New York, “had any truth”.
“There’s no truth in that.” Singh clarified that there is no Iranian vessel off the coasts of the United States and no mothership that launches drones at the United States.
Singh responded that there was no evidence to suggest the drones “were coming from a foreign entity or an adversary” when asked about the Pentagon’s “actions” in response to drone sightings. Singh said that the drones are not United States military-style drones.
“At this time, we have no evidence that these activities are coming from a foreign entity or the work of an adversary,” Singh responded. “We’re going to continue to monitor what is happening, but at no point were our installations threatened when this activity was occurring.”
Singh’s response follows Van Drew’s statement to Fox News host Harris Faulkner, who said that “Iran probably launched a mothership about a week ago” that contained the unidentified drones that have been reported above places like President-elect Donald Trump’s Trump National Golf Club Bedminster or the Picatinny Arsenal Military Base.
“I am also on the Transportation Committee and the Aviation Subcommittee. I have gotten to know a lot of people.” Sources that are very reputable, qualified, and high-ranking. Van Drew: “I’m going tell you the truth… Iran launched motherships, probably a month or so ago, that contained these drones.” “That mothership’s off …. It’s off of the east coast of America.”
Many New Jersey legislators, including Republican state senator Jon Bramnick (R-NJ) and Rep. Thomas Kean Jr.(R-NJ), called for a probe to be conducted into the drones spotted in the area and to address the “escalating problem”.
Bramnick suggested that the State of New Jersey issue a limited emergency state banning drones until a public explanation is received regarding these multiple sightings.
New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy (D), previously stated that he had discussed ongoing reports of drone activities in parts of New Jersey with Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and “senior officers” from DHS as well as the New Jersey State Police. He noted that “there is no known threat to public safety.”
