William Pulte, Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, sent a letter to Pam Bondi on Tuesday and Todd Blanche Deputy Attorney General. He claimed that New York Attorney Letitia James had “falsified” records to obtain a mortgage loan for a Virginia property she intended to use as her “principal home” in 2023 when she served as New York prosecutor.

Pulte wrote: “On August 17, 2023, Ms. James gave Ms. Shamice Thomson-Hairston a power of attorney so that she could make a Virginia home her ‘principal residency’. On August 30 and 31, 2023, Ms. James, through her lawyer, purchased this property in Norfolk. VA. She reaffirmed in a Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac form 3047 and mortgage documents that this was her primary residence despite holding a statewide office in New York and primarily residing there at the time.”

According to The New York Post, James made the transaction weeks before her civil fraud case against the Trump Organization. She claimed that the Trump Organization had overinflated the value of its properties. This case ended with a $454,000,000 judgment.

Pulte’s letter went on to note that in 1983, James and her father signed a mortgage stating they were “husband and wife to secure a home mortgage. Then, on May 4, 2000, Ms. James was listed again as husband and wife in documents. While this was a long time ago, it raises serious concerns about the validity of Ms. James’ representations on mortgage applications.”

Pulte stated that James may be held criminally liable under a variety of laws, including “wire fraud”, “mail fraud”, “bank fraud”, “false statement to a financial institution”, and/or “other relevant state or federal laws”.

Donald Trump, who was in the White House when he made his remarks about the New York AG, has continued to do so.

Trump said on Sunday that James is “a corrupt politician” and should “resign immediately from her position as New York State attorney general.”

He added, “Everyone wants to make New York great again and this wacky crook can’t be in office.”
