The Michigan State House of Representatives rejected a Democrat proposal to issue a driver’s license for undocumented immigrants. The bill would also have allowed the state to provide identification cards to any resident, regardless of residency status.
Three Michigan Democrat representatives introduced the package of legislation earlier this month. They released a release saying that the legislation will mean more security for Michigan. The bills are designed to improve road safety and stabilize the workforce by increasing the participation of driving instructors by providing law enforcement with access to ID cards.
Republican State Rep. Cam Cavitt who represents an area mainly rural in the northern Lower Peninsula of Michigan posted on Facebook that he believes there is more to this than just public safety. “A driver’s license in our state is a privilege. You cannot cross our border illegally and break our laws, and expect to get the same privileges as U.S. citizens.”

Rep. Cavitt stated that he voted in opposition to the legislation due to its political motivation. This radical Democrat driver’s license plan was unpopular enough last year to not even be voted on during a Democrat Trifecta. But, out of a commitment to radical left activism or a devotion to bad policies, Democrats made the error of trying it again.
The Detroit News reported six Democrat Michigan State House representatives joined the majority of Republicans in rejecting the legislation.
