Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) passionately defended the judiciary at a Tuesday hearing against Republican criticism. She was then blindsided when she learned of her past actions against Supreme Court justices.
Crockett was a speaker at a hearing of the House Judiciary Committee on “Judicial Overreach and Constitutional Limits for Federal Courts”, presided over by Rep. Darrell Issa, R-CA.
The tone of the congresswoman was more reserved than usual, but she warned that if Republicans continue to criticize rogue judges, the end was near.

Crockett raged, “The problem we have now is that if this path continues we will no longer have a rule law. Because there are people who are currently serving and they say things like, Ignore the Judge’s Order.”
She continued, “Law and order is maintained in this country by following the law and going through the appeals procedure. Even if you don’t like what the judge has done.”
Issa recognized himself and delivered a knockout punch in a reply.
Issa responded: “I’m going note that Miss Crockett, along with Mr. Steve Cohen, was one of the sponsors when Justice (Clarence) Thomas, or AOC, as we know, filed articles for impeachment against Samuel Alito and Justice Clarence Thomas.
Laughter erupted from the audience at this slap in the face.
Issa said, “It is interesting to see that everyone becomes self-righteous when the shoe is placed on the wrong foot. I believe this is an excellent example.”
The best part is when Crockett tries to interrupt Issa while she is talking. He immediately dismisses her with a wave of his hand, ending the rebuttal even before it begins.
Crockett and AOC (D-NY)’s attempt to impeach Alito last year and Thomas is inconveniently contradicted by their comments.
Ocasio Cortez questioned even the legitimacy of the Supreme Court in a statement about her motion to impeach.
She said: “Given that the court has demonstrated its inability to maintain its legitimate conduct, it is incumbent on Congress to contain this threat to our democracy and to the hundreds of millions of Americans who are harmed by this crisis of corruption unfolding within the court. Congress is under a moral, legal and democratic obligation to remove the judge.”
The articles of impeachment were co-sponsored by 19 Democrats, including the original Squad members Rashida Talib (D-MI) and Ilhan Oma (D-MN), as well as the newer member Crockett.
