Joy Reid was fired from MSNBC on Sunday after she had racially insulted her viewers. After all the hate Reid spewed over the airwaves, it is incredible that the company took so long to do this.
It is commendable that MSNBC has taken action. They let Reid spew her hatred and spread it for far too long. It shouldn’t have even taken a fall of more than 50% in ratings to get them to act.
The social media was inundated with reactions. Liberals and conservatives both expressed their opinions. Republican pundits expressed sadness at her departure because she was a good example of today’s extreme right. Leftists are saddened by the fact that one of their most hateful and divisive ideologues will no longer be able to incite conflict on primetime television.
Some users believed Melania and Donald Trump were playing 4D Chess:
Others brought receipts to remind folks of some of Reid’s completely off-the-reservation hot takes:
Clay Travis said that it is hard to fail so spectacularly and utterly like Joy Reid, CNN’s former NeverTrump activist Jim Acosta, or the radio host.
Michael Rapaport couldn’t help but add to the chaos.
Liberals have their own opinions, accusing everyone of racism and Joe Scarborough of Reid’s toxic behavior:
Bluesky is a social media platform that liberal commentators use.
Keith Olbermann, a former MSNBC host, said the network didn’t have a “Joy Reid problem,” but rather a “Joe Scarborough problem,” pointing to the network’s “Morning Joe” co-host. “Until he is fired, MSNBC will not recover. Shuffling tepid shows in and out does nothing,” he continued…
“She’s a blunt Black woman, so of course her show is canceled. Not lost on any of us,” Wajahat Ali, a liberal commentator and writer, reacted.
Dean Obeidallah, a radio host, writer, and columnist for CNN, MSNBC, and other networks, also mentioned the hosts of Morning Joe, citing their meeting with Trump, which sparked backlash towards the network.
Danielle Moodie, host of the podcast “The New Abnormal” on Daily Beast, criticized MSNBC’s decision to cancel Reid’s show. She said: “Every time MSNBC shakes up the lineup, it’s always the solo show hosted by a black woman that is first to go. “
The ReidOut was a show that used race-baiting, incitement, and provocation to cause division. The Reid has not benefited anyone in America. I think it’s time for her to go.
If only…
