A Florida couple faces serious criminal charges after allegedly abandoning their two young children in a hotel room while they consumed alcohol at a resort pool over the Independence Day weekend.
Allison Sirica Cannella, 40, and Brian Nicholas Cannella, 43, residents of Delray Beach, were each charged with two felony counts of child neglect following the incident at the Reefhouse Resort & Marina in Key Largo. Both remain in custody as the investigation continues.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the resort at approximately 1:45 p.m. Saturday after hotel staff reported a distressing situation. Employees had entered a guest room after hearing an unattended infant crying for what they described as an extended period.
